Blank world map and labeled world map
Five world maps to print: a blank map with the borders of all 199 countries, a labeled map and a numbered map with an answer key as A3 or Tabloid posters, a blank outline of the continents, and the same outline with the continents and oceans named.
The labeled and numbered world maps are posters: at letter size most countries are too small to hold a name, so they print on A3 or Tabloid, or shrink onto A4 or Letter with “Fit to page”. Countries still too small for a name carry a number listed beside the map. The 199 countries are those of our quizzes: the 193 UN member states, the two UN observer states, and the Cook Islands, Niue, Kosovo and Taiwan.
Areas outlined in grey are not on this map’s list, so they carry no name or number.
-
Blank map
Borders only, with a line for name, class and date.
-
Labeled world map (poster)
Every one of the countries named; the smallest with a line, or with a number listed beside the map.
A poster sheet: print it on A3 or Tabloid paper, or with “Fit to page” on A4 or Letter (the text gets smaller).
-
Numbered world map and answer key (poster)
Numbers on the map. Page 2 is the answer key: print page 1 only for pupils.
A poster sheet: print it on A3 or Tabloid paper, or with “Fit to page” on A4 or Letter (the text gets smaller).
-
Continents outline
Coastlines without country borders, to write in the continents and oceans.
-
Continents and oceans
The continents and oceans named: the answer sheet for the outline. Schools count the continents differently; this sheet names North and South America separately.
Print the PDF at 100% or with “Fit to page”: every sheet keeps a margin for any printer. The PNG is a 300 dpi image of the same sheet, for screens, slides and quick printing.
Practise the same map online: Countries of the World Quiz
The borders come from Natural Earth and, for the US states, from the US Census Bureau; both are in the public domain.
